50 Years of Progress 

Fifty years ago, a small group of parents came together around a kitchen table and started the organization that is now known as JDRF. In these 50 years we have seen progress that these parents never thought possible because of support from people like you!

The lives of those with T1D who came before us was very different indeed than those affected with the disease today. Insulin was derived from animals and prototype insulin had to be worn via a backpack, but 50 years later we’ve got a synthetic and much more reliable form of insulin and pumps that are compact enough to fit in your pocket.

So much has changed and yet there is still much to be done. Will you join us on this journey to rid this disease for good? We are parents and siblings, spouses and friends, all with one common need, a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and together we will make a difference and change the lives of those living with this disease!
